I'm currently doing a bible study on the boom girls with Swords by Lisa Bevere. Very good book and study, highly recommend it. But I want to talk to you today on something Lisa said in chapter 8.
Lisa was talking about how lots of things in life come with warning labels and how we need to watch our thoughts. She quoted an unknown author about how our thoughts become words and actions to the point that they become our destiny. But she then talks about how God wants us to exchange our ways for his ways and our thoughts for his thoughts. Read more in Isaiah 55:8-11
And I was just thinking, you know if we would just consistently be not letting the junk into our minds hearts we would be thinking God's thoughts. Junk in, junk out but good in, good out. Think about it, I bet we can sing all the words to that song we love and know with all your heart without a second thought. But can we quote God's word when we are down and need lifted up? If we fill our mind with this God isn't pleased with; IE music, TV shows, movies, or books then how much room are we leaving for God?
Lisa Beeve said, "As we read his (God's) Word, it renews our mind. As our minds are renewed, our thoughts change. This change in our thought patterns produces a change in what we say about ourselves, our world, and others. This change in our language produces a change in our actions and connects us with heaven's purposes for earth. Our words begin to echo the will of our Father in heaven, and the vineyard begins to flourish." So what does this mean? We need to continue to be in God's word to renew our mind so that the great good of God's word and plan can happen! Our actions speak to other people, when we act one way that may not seem to exemplify Christ, how are we accomplishing God's will?
John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Live the truth, don't tell the truth. "God's truth has the power to set you apart and cloth you in light, " Lisa Bevere. I don't know about you but I want to live the the truth and not just proclaim it to people. Let's everyday strive to think and do God's thought and ways instead of our own.
