BGMC

I love Vacation Bible School so much! I remember as a kid God calling me into ministry as a kid at VBS. I know God can touch the lives of small children and lead them into the ministry he has for them.

You see when I was like 15 or 16 years old my Great Grandma was dying. And we went to visit her at the hospital. I remember her not making too much sense. But before I left she looked at me and said, "Ashley speak to the children they are the ones who will listen to you." She repeated it a few more time to me. I didn't really know at the time what all that would mean in my life but I been trying to talk to children since then about Jesus.

Matthew 19:14 says, Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

At our Vacation Bible school we try to encourage our kids to seek God with everything they have in their hearts. Also we try to encourage them to bring offering for BGMC (Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge). Where all the offering goes to help missionaries through the Assemblies of God church that are reaching out to kids in need. We see some powerful stories from our missionaries from all over the world of how BGMC has helped them.

But let me tell you something. BGMC reaches to more then you or I could. Our change helps real kids around the world come to know about Jesus. Some of these kids may not know who Jesus is at all and get to know who Jesus is for the first time. Which is AWESOME!!! Our change that we give to missions is great because we are helping the great commission to happen.

I love seeing the hearts of the kids giving to missions and seeing these kid's hearts be changed to follow Jesus. I am so happy I listened to God and to what my Great Grandma said. I know the kids will listen to what I have to tell them about God. But it excites me to help be a part of the great commission.

60 years of happiness

Wow it has been a world wind since my last post. So I am going to write several today that has been going on in my brain now that I have the time.

This July we celebrated my Grandparent's 60th Anniversary. God is so amazing to let them have 60 amazing years together. You know marriage is something you have to work at everyday of you life its not something that you say I do and that is it. In 1 Corinthians 13 God talks about Love and how it is to be displayed especially in marriage.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8a Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

You know true love is something I think we all love for. And we have to ask ourselves am I showing love to my spouse by being patient? Am I kind to him? Do I envy him or boast in him? We need to remember every day in every kind of relationship we are in to show this kind of love. If you are not showing God's love like shown in 1 Cor. 13, then what kind of love are you showing to people? I am sure it's not the kind God is wishing to see you show. I know even I need to remember daily to love everyone by being patient and not getting easily angry. Which is NOT easy to do. But if I don't have God backing me up and helping me to do my best then I am not going to show patience to my husband.

You see marriage is work every day to make sure we can show this true love God wants us to show our spouses. I really hope one day I can be like my grandparents and celebrate my 60th anniversary but I know the only way to get there. Is that true love in 1 Cor. 13. Because we need God to help show love to our spouse. Remember we need to keep God in the center of our marriage to keep a true love.

One Nation Under God

I believe God pointed out these scriptures to me yesterday
because of what has been going on in the world these last few weeks. I believe God isn't happy how the world is turning up, especially with America. We are know for, in the past as "God bless America", "in God we trust", "one nation under God". The whole nation has began to turn from God. Sure there are several whom haven't and are obeying His law. But the number of people turning from God and just obeying the law of the land has increased so much. I fear how these next few weeks, months, years ahead will come to pass. In these verses in 2Kings 22 the king realized his nation wasn't living for God and feared for him and the others there. God had mercy on the king because he turned from his sins and repented to God. I do believe we are living in the end times and that if we need to get right with God now. These verses we should take as a warning and ask God for forgiveness.

2 Kings 22:11-20 nlt When the king heard what was written in the Book of the Law, he tore his clothes in despair. Then he gave these orders to Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Acbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the court secretary, and Asaiah the king’s personal adviser: “Go to the Temple and speak to the lord for me and for the people and for all Judah. Inquire about the words written in this scroll that has been found. For the lord ’s great anger is burning against us because our ancestors have not obeyed the words in this scroll. We have not been doing everything it says we must do.” So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Acbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to the New Quarter of Jerusalem to consult with the prophet Huldah. She was the wife of Shallum son of Tikvah, son of Harhas, the keeper of the Temple wardrobe. She said to them, “The lord , the God of Israel, has spoken! Go back and tell the man who sent you, ‘This is what the lord says: I am going to bring disaster on this city and its people. All the words written in the scroll that the king of Judah has read will come true. For my people have abandoned me and offered sacrifices to pagan gods, and I am very angry with them for everything they have done. My anger will burn against this place, and it will not be quenched.’ “But go to the king of Judah who sent you to seek the lord and tell him: ‘This is what the lord , the God of Israel, says concerning the message you have just heard: You were sorry and humbled yourself before the lord when you heard what I said against this city and its people—that this land would be cursed and become desolate. You tore your clothing in despair and wept before me in repentance. And I have indeed heard you, says the lord . So I will not send the promised disaster until after you have died and been buried in peace. You will not see the disaster I am going to bring on this city.’” So they took her message back to the king.
